  1. Arrange a rendezvous with the boss:
  2. It’s important to have a meeting with a boss to acquaint him with your short-term and long-term goals. Discuss what are the objectives of the team and how they will be in favor of the business strategy.

  3. Get acquainted with HR:
  4. This time, you are likely to meet with HR as the leader of the team. So, you need to discuss various problems of the team with HR like bullying. You will likely discuss the benefits for the team such as any kind of employee assistance and sick leaves etc.

  5. Do more 1:1 with the team:
  6. It shows that you respect them and will take care of them in the future. You can learn new things about the individual members of the team such as their aspirations and goals. You can also get to know how projects are proceeding. Apart from that, if any member has any new ideas about improvement in the work of the team, you can listen to him.

  7. Make plans for delegation:
  8. Since you will be working as a team leader now, it’s important to understand that you need to get rid of some of your old work now. Some other employees will do them while you perform your role as a team leader managing everyone’s work.

  9. Change the mindset of the other team members:
  10. Although a big change has happened because you have been promoted, you still make sure that the team members like you. For this, it’s important that spend some time with your old team. When you spend time with them, they are likely to have better productivity and contribute more. Having a good relationship with their team leader can also ensure that they are better likely to handle stressful situations in the future.

  11. Share what you have learned:

Whatever you have learned so far which caused the promotion, you can share that knowledge with the team. It can reduce the stress of the other team members and they can get to learn from your experience.
