This implies the customer gets all the data required from them. The customers i.e. companies also enjoy benefits like easy accessibility, scalability and better security. The reporting is also better with these solutions.

The SUS have certain new features which were not present in an LMS. This leads to a better learning experience for the learners. It implies increasing the skills of employees by giving them more education. There has been a survey that shows that upskilling has led to better productivity in the workforce. Such CEO’s can work harder towards talent retention and better engagement of employees. Such upskilling is necessary because people’s skills are getting obsolete. On the other hand, LMSs save costs and there is a simple reduction of costs. There is consistency and simple distribution of electronic content.

LMS’s can be configured through the self-deployed servers or cloud-based servers located at different places. When such LMS’ are configured on remote servers, there can be increased deployment time. But when LMS’ are configured on local servers the company is responsible for taking care. If their access includes setup, security and access this can be a headache for companies.

Different ways in which the LMSs and SUSs are built

The main percentage of LMSs is created in the form of content containers such as AICC and SCORM. These content containers are built with the aid of authoring tools. The authoring tools have some disadvantages such as their cost, the users don’t get full-fledged experience and there is a lack of reports.

On the other hand, SUS, provide content containers apart from meeting content standards such as Microsoft Word, MP4 video and Youtube so, content authoring becomes quite easy with these SUS’s. The users get a better experience through these tools because they use the same technology to deliver content such as that used by Netflix, Hulu and Amazon prime video.

Reporting differences

LMS doesn’t provide reporting from the point of view of legislative reporting. The LMS’s have report generators which the users can utilize.

SUS on the other hand provide the user with the benefit of custom reporting. The users can create reports from all kinds of data present in the platform. Data can be integrated from systems such as CRM to create reports. So, these varied reports are genuine and can help in reporting for legislation. Coursera is an example of a SUS platform which is a MOOC platform containing so many courses for students.

Other differences

There are many differences between an LMS and a SUS. The latter has a lot of gamification choices for the learners. There are also audit functions for the learners whereby their performance can be assessed. There can also be learner affinity measurement metrics telling the content creators which content is getting enjoyed the most by them. The learners can also provide feedback to the SUS’s. Microlearning is also an essential part of SUS, where the learners can learn through short byte-sized modules.

So, these are some major differences between LMS’s and SUS’s.
