The term IoT is “Internet of things” coined by Kevin Ashton in 1999. In simplest words IoT includes all the things other than phones and computers which are connected by power of internet. These are smart things which can send or receive information or can do both. This does not signify they are mini computers or smart phones. They connect various businesses and people to each other through devices, processes and environments. There are three kinds of IoT’s and each category has its own uses:

1. Gathering and sending information
2. Receiving and Acting on the information
3. Both of the above

As per Bain and Company IoT market will increase to a whopping $520 billion by 2021. These different types of objects can have sensors, electronics, connectivity or software for transferring data. They broadcast machine to machine and are supported by cloud computing. The Internet of Things & Big data analytics together are bringing major changes in everything, and eLearning is not an exclusion. The knowledge given by IoT guides the eLearning designers to deliver a highly engaging and customized course material.

Internet of things have opened astounding opportunities in eLearning. It is changing the whole learning experience for the learners by building up knowledge, information distribution and energizing personalized growth. The virtual big data derived from IoT in eLearning is processed on a platform of big data analytics management, supportive tools and software. The smart objects generated data comes from IoT sensors through the network. Henceforth eLearning is impacted by IoT in many ways like:

• The content delivery will shift from text to video to make it IoT compatible and more effective. It will be mostly in the form of videos for the reasons- quick feedback, easy to share and cost effectiveness.
• Flexibility in eLearning course material will be able to grasp more information in terms of making a good quality and appropriately aligned course as per the learner’s needs.
• Testing and tracking through internet of things will give more insights about the performance of the learner. It will also help in choosing best delivery method for effective learning experience.
