How learners can use interpersonal skills in an elearning course ?

The elearning companies are always faced with the challenge to make the course interesting. There are various ways to do so:

Interesting course

The course content should be interesting.

There should also be cultural points so that the learners can enjoy the course.

The students should be given personal lesson plans which imply that the students will get information on the time when the next lesson is scheduled. There should be entertainment so that the students don’t feel bored. The students should be able to chat with each other about what they have learnt throughout the course. The course content should be different for different learners.

Virtual reality-based learning

The students can make sure that the learning is like being part of a video game so that he can enjoy the experience. There are 3D simulations where the learner talks with the instructor who is a character in this simulation. The instructor then takes him through the simulation.

You can also use Virtual reality in an elearning video to make it extra engaging. The students can focus completely on the course through this trick. The students just have to wear the virtual reality headset and they are taken to a new world. Although it’s tough designing such a course for students, the advantages involved in learning are high. The instructor can create a virtual course created by elearning companies. The students can chat with the computer-generated artificial reality which is a 3D environment.

The learner needs to make use of his interpersonal skills while attending the course.

This is how learners can develop interpersonal skills to make sure that they grab the best information from an online course which is pursued with others:

Listen to others and make sure attention is paid

It’s not always easy to be a good listener. Whenever you are part of an online session, you should pay attention to what is going on between your friends or what the instructor is talking. It’s better to be a listener when any one of them is talking.

Only listen on content

The mind can wander here and there while the online session is getting delivered. Make sure that you only listen to the content.

Don’t interfere

When you interrupt someone talking, the speaker will think that you don’t value what they are saying. If you have to interfere, ask for a break and get refreshed.

Suggest a different way

When a listen says something to which you don’t agree, you can also talk about the alternative way. This will make sure to the learner that you were listening to them.

Be diplomatic in a conversation

It’s important to be diplomatic in a conversation. Although a discussion might be taking place between you and peers, you don’t need to tell them that their work is not of standard quality.

Speak what you think

It’s important to speak your opinion. It’s important to be able to handle people and long term relationships. You must make sure that you can grow and succeed by effectively handling people. You will be respected for your point of view if you present it properly.

Make sure you have respect for what others need

Acceptance of what others need is quite important. You must understand that other people also need to feel respected and be able to see their self worth in work. Positive human psychology is based is to respect the needs of others.

This is how interpersonal skills are of use is when you are in an elearning domain.

Different types of learners

How to cater to learners of different temperaments?

Every human being has a different kind of learning curve.

Ancient scholar Hippocrates defined the various kinds of learners as phlegmatic, choleric, sanguine and melancholic.

These were the different kinds of temperaments human beings have according to him. These kinds of temperaments result from the presence of various bodily fluids inside us.

However, there is another school of thought. It says that our emotions and dreams define our temperament.

Sanguine

Those with this kind of temperament like challenges. Even if new challenges have some kind of risk, they are likely to take them. They also have a charismatic personality. They are the kind of learners that can also motivate their teammates. Sanguine learners don’t want to be bored. For them, online training must not be monotonous.

How should online training be created for sanguine learners?

  • Sanguine learners require online training because textbook training is not for them. They should be given different resources so that they can choose from them accordingly.
  • The sanguine learners are likely to become hosts quite often. For this purpose, there should be online training activities that require them to head an event like the leader of a project on which a group is collaborating.
  • The sanguine learners should be given the chances to take risks. So, their learning material should involve simulations etc. When they have simulations before them, they can easily learn without committing mistakes in the workplace.

Phlegmatic

Phlegmatic is easy-going learners. They make sure that there is peace in their team members. They don’t like to pick up fights on arguments.

These are the learning tips for phlegmatic learners

  • Phlegmatic learners use their thinking skills to solve a problem. There should be collaboration projects in a group that make sure that they work with their teammates to solve problems.

  • Although these kinds of people, don’t express their emotions, they should be given training activities that allow them to interact with others.

Melancholic

  • These kinds of learners always spend a lot of time thinking about the topic in question. They are introverts.
  • They accept the status as it is and don’t like to take risks.

How to create online courses for such learners

  • The courses should be very direct to them. They should be easily able to go through the training course. Since they are very attentive, the course should be designed carefully for them. So, you should take care of the most minute things in a course such as a text and an image.
  • These learners like to learn alone. But you should create for them a group learning activity so that they are not left isolated.
  • Since they like to learn alone, they should not be pressurised to lead the social events. Instead, online discussions are valid activities for them.

Choleric

Choleric learners rely on themselves. They are goal-oriented and independent. They take every opportunity to become a leader. They are also very logical thinkers. They don’t want social settings but instead are happy with colleagues who think alike.

Tips for these kinds of learners

  • These kinds of learners don’t like public forums. Its because they don’t like to talk lightly, but like substantial talks.
  • Also, these learners should be given simulations so that they acquire practical knowledge. They should even be taught about the advantages of doing things in the real world.
  • Since this type is goal-oriented, make sure that they can collapse their goals into specific milestones. The structure of the course is very important for these kinds of learners.

Your learners are a mix of these types of temperaments. Therefore, you should create learning material catering to these 4 types.
